The programme is ideal for entry into higher education studies. It, therefore, serves as a bridging course if you do not meet the entry requirements for our NQF 6 Diplomas.
Managerial competencies can be defined as the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attitudes needed by managers to be effective in a wide range of managerial jobs and in various organisational settings.

The Higher Certificate in Business Management provides students with a learning pathway across various occupations, sectors and industries. Increasingly, employers view post-school qualifications as an indicator of employees’ ability to think, analyse, solve problems and community effectively. However, not all school leavers meet the entry requirements for degree studies, and this programme provides a pathway for learners to access higher education studies and specifically in the field of business management.
In addition, this programme provides an opportunity for students who have previously completed specialised programmes or technical programmes, to complete a qualification that will introduce them to business management and to develop their management skills for promotional purposes in a relatively short time span of 12 months; which may be more appealing and cost-effective to some students than completing a full 3-year business management degree.
This module introduces the role of business in society and explains how a business employs its resources to satisfy the needs for products and services. The economic systems of the world are explained, including how small businesses function within a market economy.
The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the fundamentals of marketing management within a business context. This module covers the nature and the function of marketing management within the organisation. Furthermore, the marketing process is discussed in this module as well as the components of the marketing environment. The collection, analysis and interpretation are used to segment the market according to consumer behaviour.
The purpose of this module is to provide you with an overview of the tasks associated with human resource management. The module explores the scope and task of human resource management. We also discuss the determining and formulating policy tasks, advising task; rendering a service and controlling employee affairs management tasks in relation to the HR function and impact on other functions.
The purpose of this module is to provide you with an understanding of the operations function in relation to other major business functions. You are introduced to concepts related to operations management, including supply chain, supply chain management, logistics, supply and demand and various demand forecasting techniques.
The purpose of this module is to introduce you to financial management from a secondary or support perspective. Upon completion of the module, you will be able to explain the scope of financial management, apply basic principles and practices of financial management and explain budget planning and control issues.
This module covers various communication mediums within an organisation, communication in the digital era, how to deal with multicultural communication within the organisation, and how to overcome barriers to effective communication. The module also teaches you how to conduct succesful meetings.
This module introduces you to the importance of reliable and accurate information, the information needs of an organisation and the relationship between the information function and other business functions. You will learn how to differentiate between the various components of information systems and understand relevant Information Systems terminology.
The purpose of this module is to introduce you to the basic concepts and principles applicable to managing a project within a business environment. A detailed overview is given of the project management life cycle and steps in planning, managing and controlling a project, using the relevant methods and tools to manage projects based on scenarios related to real-life business situations.
