We explore the evolving role of HR managers and gain insight into South Africa’s legislative framework, focusing on historical, economic, and political developments. Research the impact of various laws and find resolutions for conflicts. Delve into the diverse players in the legal system and explore different types of contracts. We also dive into workforce planning, forecasting, supply and demand, and bridging the gaps. Finally, explore the fascinating HR function of work design, including job creation, job analysis, and the power of teamwork.

This module continues the topic of strategic human resource planning. Discover advanced techniques in workforce planning, job analysis, and job design. Learn how to conduct a thorough job analysis using different methods, empowering you with valuable skills. Gain insights into the Employment Equity Act (EEA) and its implications, specifically focusing on section 9, which addresses equality.

Learn advanced techniques to measure and improve productivity in this module. Discover the factors influencing productivity and how to identify them. Explore different types of productivity inputs and outputs. Calculate labour efficiency variances and conduct Pareto and cost-benefit analyses. Develop a productivity improvement strategy. Gain skills in basic statistical calculations and calculating labour turnover and absenteeism rates. Subject: Organisational Behaviour

In this subject, we explore the human resource function of employee development, the legal requirements, employment agreements and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of employees.

This module aims to introduce you to the intricate world of recruitment and selection strategies, focussing on finding suitable candidates for a specific organisation. Discover a fresh perspective on organisational behaviour and its global impact. Explore how modern organisations are revolutionising their approach to employee engagement. Learn how positive psychological capital (PsyCap) is changing the game. Uncover the secrets to enhancing employee attitudes, job satisfaction, and organisational commitment. In this module, we explore the crucial aspects of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA). We delve into the significance of effectively appointing and orientating new employees. Discover the essential procedures of placement and induction to ensure a seamless integration into your workforce. By the end of this module, you’ll be equipped to review and create employment contracts that align with the BCEA.

In this module, you will explore motivation factors and study various theories. We aim to give you the knowledge and tools to apply these concepts to real-world situations, including employee engagement and skills-based pay. We will also cover techniques for improving workforce performance and introduce you to advanced performance management practices. Additionally, you will learn about team effectiveness, performance appraisals, and critical skills for achieving management objectives. Subject: Labour and Industrial Relations

The last subject of the second year covers the macro perspectives of managing employment relations and South African labour relations as we continue our journey to link human resources functions to the business world.

In this module, we explore the structures and topics of employment relations. We provide an understanding of the vital roles of NEDLAC, employers’ organisations, Business Unity SA (BUSA), and trade unions. Discover the five key players in employment relations. Learn about the crucial functions employers’ organisations serve to advance the business cause and their role in the tripartite relationship. Gain a deep understanding of the significance of justice perceptions in employment relations. Uncover how the dynamics at the workplace level intersect with other environmental factors. We also delve into the intricacies of the Labour Relations (LR) Act and examine each of its building blocks in detail.

Discover how to navigate the Skill Development Legislation, Employment Equity Acts, and other important Acts. Gain the knowledge to effectively apply these acts to real-life scenarios and understand the connection between business strategy and employment equity.
